PURCHASING COORDINATOR

Our client, a leading food manufacturer located in Jeffersontown, KY, is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator to assist with procurement operations. This role supports the purchasing department by maintaining supplier relationships, tracking orders, and ensuring a smooth procurement process. The Purchasing Coordinator will work closely with senior management and report directly to the Purchasing Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Assist in developing and implementing purchasing strategies to support production schedules.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to track orders, ensure timely delivery, and maintain quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders and inventory in QuickBooks (Desktop version).
  • Work with the QA team to ensure all inputs comply with SQF (Safe Quality Food) standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Update and manage the approved vendor list, ensuring documentation is current.
  • Stay informed on market trends and pricing to support purchasing decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing, logistics, or procurement, ideally in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Primarily works in an office setting with occasional visits to the production and warehouse areas.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions and operate office equipment.
  • Occasionally required to lift and move objects up to 30 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office and food manufacturing plant environment.
  • Some travel to vendor sites may be required for inspections or audits.
