Join our client's dynamic team as an Electrical Estimator and play a pivotal role in scaling their Arc Flash Study projects to new heights. In this key position, you'll be responsible for generating accurate and competitive cost estimates, ensuring their bids stand out in the market. This role demands a keen eye for detail in analyzing project specifications, drawings, and related documents to calculate material, labor, equipment, and overhead costs accurately. Your ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and engineers will be crucial in gathering and verifying information and addressing any concerns that may arise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and assess information provided by potential clients to formulate bids for arc flash studies, paying special attention to projects lacking detailed drawings.
  • Use Excel, capitalizing on your expertise with basic formulas and calculations, to develop detailed and precise cost estimates.
  • Identify and assess potential risks, opportunities, and contingencies associated with the estimates.
  • Develop and present bid proposals, detailing the scope of work, qualifications, exclusions, and pricing breakdowns.
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and engineers to clarify details, negotiate pricing, and address issues.
  • Maintain and update files, records, and databases related to estimates.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, including the engineering team and safety personnel from smaller clients, to ensure project success.
  • Transition communication responsibilities from the Sales Director to yourself, becoming the primary contact for engineering-related inquiries.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Preference for an associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or licensure as an electrician. An engineering background is preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, particularly those with significant experience bidding on electrical projects.
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings and specifications, with the ability to use and understand CAD software for projects lacking ready drawings.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
  • Keen attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality.
  • Willingness to travel 20-30% of the time, once trained.
